Outcast 2014 Pinot Noir
Russian River Valley
• Winemaking - Our winemaker is intently focused on picking when the acids soften and the fruit flavors are at their richest, well before they start to shrivel. After picking, the grapes were sorted and de-stemmed into a fermentation tank where they rested and soaked for for an average of 3 to 4 days. After a warm fermentation, they were gently pressed and stopped as soon as any harsh tannin was perceived. Sur Lie stirred and aged for up to 6 months, with continued barrel aging for a total of 16 months.
• 14.4% alcohol

• 100% Russian River Pinot Noir Composition
Harvest Notes - Our 2014 vintage was very special year. The Russian River appellation had a mild growing season and dry summer, the fall kept rains away until well after the fruit was picked. The mild fall weather meant that Russian River experienced a ‘classic’ vintage.
WHAT Does It Taste Like? - Textbook vibrant dark red hue. A fragrant nose of rose petals, raspberries, sweet vanilla, dried cherries and Christmas mulling spices with hints of chocolate and cedar. An elegant soft entry, red berry, plums, strawberry and boysenberry. Nice earthiness, cocoa bean with a soft, toasty long velvety finish. Elegant extraction with rich, soft tannins, this wine was age in only French oak, creating a very bright, rich wine that is extremely age worthy. Our Pinot Noir is a full bodied wine, with a soft, plush mouthfeel, massive amounts of fruit and elegance on the finish. A great cellar addition that will only get better for many years to come.
WHAT Should I Pair It With? - Roasted cornish game hen with thyme and garlic, Rare prime rib topped with sautéed wild mushrooms Or a peppered thick cut pork chop.
